Your location is the first thing you have to think about when opening a Bed & Breakfast. For innkeepers, we are helping make our dreams become a reality. Guests can be accommodated at night in private bedrooms, which may or may not have private baths, and where breakfast is served in the morning.
The most common regulations B&Bs must follow pertain to safety. But I've never stayed anywhere that had what I would call strange rules. There are some expensive B&Bs, but there are also some very affordable ones. In most cases, particularly with inns of less than ten rooms, the innkeeper is the only person working at there.
Your host can fill you in on local tourist attractions, restaurants, hiking trails and other interesting things to do on your stay. It can also help you to appreciate what you do have around you when you return home. You should arrive on time, or at least call if that's not going to be possible. Warmth, coziness and good food aren't the only benefits to staying at a B&B.
