Word on the street in B&B circles is that guests are increasingly looking for a magazine spread when they walk in the door. Keep in mind that there are certainly many great places to explore. If you travel to the biggest cities or the smallest towns, there is a good chance there is a Bed and Breakfast available to you.
There are some expensive B&Bs, but there are also some very affordable ones. If you've avoided looking at B&Bs as an option because of the cost, think again. Guests are mostly unfamiliar with these guidelines and tend to overlook any violations. The bed and breakfast industry is huge.
Each owner brings their own special skills to the experience. For many of the more popular B&B's are located in beach and mountain areas, such as Hawaii, New England, and Colorado where daytime recreation and tourism activities are popular. While a Continental breakfast is frequently included in chain hotel rates the breakfast at a Bed and Breakfast is always of a significantly higher quality. B&B's are required to have fire resistence, a sufficient fire escape plan in place, and smoke detectors in each guest room.
That is quite a length of time but when you get to stay there you will find out why such locations are in demand. But in all the times that my husband and I have stayed at B&Bs, this has never been a real problem. These days it seems almost everyone makes their travel decisions and arrangements through the internet. Hopefully it will encourage you to stay at a bed and breakfast in the future and not just an uncomfortable hotel room with noisy neighbors.
Don't worry if you aren't quite ready to head back home though. Either option offers lots of possibilities.
